Kenyan musician Stevo Simple Boy has sparked conversations online after posting a video offering advice to aspiring DJs and artists. The post came shortly after his ex-girlfriend, influencer and content creator Pritty Vishy, experienced a challenging debut as a DJ.
Stevo’s Message to Emerging Artists
In the video shared on Instagram, Stevo, whose real name is Steve Osimpo, spoke directly to upcoming creatives. Sitting in a distinctive red armchair, he acknowledged the difficulties artists face, including rejection and criticism, urging them not to lose heart.
Speaking in Swahili, he said, “I have some advice for upcoming DJs and artists. I know there are ups and downs, many challenges, insults, but do not lose hope.” He also extended a playful blessing to DJs who choose to play his music, promising them good fortune.
Pritty Vishy's Debut Set Troubles
Pritty Vishy’s first DJ performance was marred by technical problems with the venue’s mixing deck, which only allowed her to use one side of the equipment. The difficulties led to visible distress on stage, which was widely shared on social media.
The backlash that followed prompted Pritty Vishy to announce a temporary break from social media to safeguard her mental health.
Public Reaction and Speculation
Given the timing, many interpreted Stevo’s video as a subtle reference to Pritty Vishy's recent experience. The two were once a high-profile couple in Kenyan entertainment, and their past relationship has led to speculation about whether Stevo’s message was intentional or coincidental.
Regardless, the video has become a widely discussed topic on Kenyan social media platforms.
