Using two 24-hour dietary recalls, researchers estimated the percentage of daily calories each participant consumed from ultra-processed foods (UPFs).
The NOVA classification system was employed to categorize participants into four groups based on their UPF intake, ranging from less than 20% to over 44% of daily calories.

- Men consuming higher amounts of UPFs had a 29-30% increased risk of developing prostate cancer compared to those with the lowest intake.
- After adjusting for age, ethnicity, smoking, and socioeconomic status, the elevated risk remained statistically significant, between 24% and 31%.
