Tana River County officials and representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have initiated a joint evaluation of the Advancing Food Systems Project. This review aims to measure the project's progress, identify implementation challenges, and determine priorities for future interventions.
The monitoring mission started with a meeting at the county headquarters in Hola, bringing together county leaders and UNDP staff to assess the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity and climate-related shocks.

Acting County Secretary Mwanajuma Hiribae emphasized the county government's commitment to addressing food insecurity by promoting sustainable agriculture and improving livelihoods. She highlighted the importance of partnerships to ensure that interventions meet the evolving needs of communities affected by climate variability.
UNDP Kenya Project Officer Kevin Mutuku noted that evidence-based monitoring and stakeholder cooperation are critical to evaluating the project's impact and guiding future strategies. County Chief of Staff Maurice Osano and County Executive Committee members Abdullahi Hanti and Mathew Bwoya underscored the value of this review in enhancing accountability and informing program adjustments to deliver sustained benefits.
The Advancing Food Systems Project is implemented through a partnership between UNDP and the Tana River County Government. Findings from this assessment will shape the next phase of the project, addressing gaps and optimizing efforts to improve food security and resilience in the region.
