The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 20,000 vacancies for junior school teachers to bolster the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) across Kenya.

Interested candidates can apply online starting August 18, 2026, with the application window closing at midnight on August 31, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Hold at least a diploma in education.
  • Attained a minimum mean grade of C+ and scored C+ in two teaching subjects at KCSE or hold an equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
  • Currently unemployed and not previously dismissed from teaching on disciplinary grounds.

Applicants who served as teacher interns and are recruited will retain their current sub-county assignments. Successful candidates will teach various subjects within the Junior School Curriculum.

All applications must be submitted exclusively online via the TSC website (www.tsc.go.ke) under the 'Careers' section or through teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. Manual submissions will not be accepted.

Applicants should present original academic and professional certificates during the selection process. Selection will be merit-based, with vacancies allocated per county. Detailed vacancy breakdowns by county and sub-county are available on the TSC website.
