Authorities arrested two men and confiscated suspected cannabis valued at Sh3.3 million after a dramatic pursuit along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway.
The operation was conducted by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Nakuru in collaboration with K9 officers. Acting on intelligence about a vehicle transporting illegal drugs, officers set up a roadblock on the busy highway.
When police signaled the vehicle to stop, the driver accelerated, initiating a high-speed chase. Despite a deflated front tyre, the driver performed a risky U-turn at the KFA Roundabout and sped towards the Eveready area. Eventually, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police quickly apprehended the two suspects. A search of the vehicle uncovered five sacks containing approximately 110 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa. The narcotics were seized as evidence.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with plans to arraign them in court once procedures are complete.

This seizure underscores Kenyan authorities’ commitment to disrupting narcotics trafficking through intelligence-led operations. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) urged the public to continue providing information to assist in combating drug-related crimes via anonymous reporting channels.
