Two Bosnian mountaineers lost their lives while three others remain unaccounted for after attempting to summit Mount Elbrus, the tallest mountain in Russia, situated in the Caucasus range.

Seven climbers began their ascent on Saturday, aiming to reach the 5,642-metre (18,510 feet) peak. However, deteriorating weather conditions forced one member to descend and alert authorities about two climbers falling ill.

Authorities launched a rescue operation, recovering the bodies of two climbers. Efforts to locate the remaining three continue, but poor weather has hindered the retrieval of the deceased.
