Two brothers, aged 11 and 16, were injured when a glass door of a steam room suddenly broke while they were on a package holiday in Turkey. The incident occurred at the Green Nature Diamond Hotel, where the family was staying.
CCTV footage obtained from the hotel by the boys' father captures the moment the glass door exploded, causing cuts to their feet, legs, and arms. A doctor at the hotel provided immediate treatment for their injuries.
Initially, the travel company Jet2Holidays denied responsibility but later agreed to compensate the family with £7,000 after legal representation by Hudgell Solicitors. The firm had to wait 10 months to receive the CCTV evidence supporting the claim.
The boys’ father described the frightening aftermath: “The eldest came limping into the room with blood everywhere after cutting his feet in the spa.” The family has since avoided package holidays for four years due to the trauma, and the children remain uneasy about glass doors.
Anne Thomson of Hudgell Solicitors remarked on the ordeal, stating that the footage highlights how fortunate the brothers were to avoid more serious harm.
Jet2Holidays confirmed the settlement related to the 2022 incident, expressing regret over what happened.
