Thirteen pupils were injured after two school buses transporting 101 students collided in Riting Area, West Pokot County.

The injured, including six boys and seven girls, were rushed to Kapenguria Referral Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the buses were carrying children from Mosop Constituency in Nandi County at the time of the accident.

Kenya Red Cross deployed response teams from West Pokot and Turkana counties, working alongside county ambulances, the National Police Service, and an additional ambulance from KENGEN to assist with evacuation and emergency care.

Photos from the scene showed both buses severely damaged, lying on their sides with shattered windows, while onlookers maintained a safe distance.

Psychosocial support was provided to affected pupils, and teachers relocated the remaining students to a secure holding area.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no fatalities have been reported at this time.
