The Wiper Patriotic Front has firmly rejected reports suggesting that its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, is preparing to announce a new political direction or exit the opposition coalition.
In a statement released on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Kalonzo urged his supporters to disregard false information circulating online. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Wantam Movement and the broader opposition unity efforts.
"Ignore the fake news. We are committed to Wantam Movement. Ukombozi wa Kenya ni lazima, and Kenya cannot be liberated until we send this regime home," the statement read.
The statement included an image of a purported invitation to a press conference where Kalonzo was allegedly expected to make a major announcement about political alliances and Kenya's leadership future. The party clearly marked the document as fake.
Clarification on Digital Platform
This announcement follows Kalonzo's earlier distancing from a newly launched digital platform by a lobby group calling itself the WANTAM Advisory Committee. The platform claimed to involve Kenyans in selecting the opposition's 2027 presidential flagbearer.
In a statement dated July 16, 2026, Kalonzo emphasized that neither the platform nor the lobby group has been authorized by the Wiper Patriotic Front, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition, or the United Alternative Government in Waiting.
Official Flagbearer Selection Process
Kalonzo assured supporters that the opposition coalition will disclose its official procedure for choosing the 2027 presidential flagbearer through legitimate and recognized channels in due course.
These clarifications come amid ongoing public discussions about how Kenya's opposition will unite behind a single candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the upcoming general election.
