The number of fatalities from the boat capsize incident on Zimbabwe's Lake Kariba has increased to 84, following the recovery of four additional bodies on Sunday afternoon, local police reported.
The boat was en route from Kariba town to Chalala Fishing Camp when it overturned on August 11. So far, rescue teams have saved 77 survivors, while search operations continue for those still missing.
Authorities have released some of the recovered bodies for burial both locally and in other areas. Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared the tragedy a national disaster, ordering comprehensive support for affected families, including medical care, psychological assistance, and funeral arrangements.
