Thirteen students sustained injuries following a collision involving two school buses transporting a total of 101 pupils in Riting Area, West Pokot County on Tuesday.
The Kenya Red Cross Society reported the incident but did not disclose the identities of the schools involved or the cause of the crash. No fatalities have been confirmed.
Among the injured are six males and seven females, all of whom have been taken to Kapenguria Referral Hospital for medical care.
Emergency Response Efforts
Red Cross teams from West Pokot and Turkana counties, alongside county ambulances and an additional ambulance from KenGen, have been mobilized to assist at the scene. They are working in coordination with the National Police Service and other emergency responders.
Teachers and students affected by the accident are being relocated to a secure area while emergency operations continue. Psychosocial support is also being provided to those impacted.
