Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, wife to Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning after suffering a sudden heart attack.

Senator Khalwale announced the tragic news on August 15, revealing that Gloria collapsed suddenly and passed away shortly thereafter.

Family and Legacy

Gloria was the mother of eight of Senator Khalwale’s children: Engine Kukaste, Olivia Sabayi, Flavia Shimuli, Gift Atubukha, Meliza Khamwenyi, Velma Nasiebanda, Sonia Inuni, and Maura Makatse Khalwale.

Condolences Pour In

The announcement triggered an outpouring of sympathy from political figures, friends, and the public. Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale extended his condolences to the family, the Malinya community in Ikolomani, and Kakamega County residents.

Etale expressed, “My heartfelt condolences to Senator Dr Bonny Khalwale following the sudden death of his beloved wife, Mama Gloria Khalwale. May God grant you peace and fortitude during this difficult time.”

Bumula MP Wanami Wamboka also mourned the loss, describing it as devastating and offering prayers for comfort and strength for the family.

Background

Gloria’s passing comes six years after the death of Senator Khalwale’s first wife, Adelaide Khalwale, who died in 2019. In 2024, the senator publicly acknowledged having four wives and 17 children in total.

Gloria was his third wife and mother to eight children, while his other wives include Josephine Khalwale and Diana Khalwale.

Senator Khalwale, a medical doctor, currently serves as the representative for Kakamega County in the Senate.
