A 17-year-old social media marketing intern has resigned from a media agency after facing repeated pressure to work during her leave days and being asked to come to the office on a Sunday without prior notice.
The intern shared her experience on Reddit, highlighting the challenges she faced balancing work demands with her studies.
Work During Leave
Though she was officially on leave on a Saturday, the intern continued working from home by editing two reels and creating a 10-image carousel for the agency. Despite this, a colleague questioned her productivity, stating that the team had not completed any effective work over several days and criticized her for not informing them earlier about her leave.
The intern responded by explaining that Saturday was a designated leave day and she had kept the team updated while still delivering content. She asked for clarification on what constituted "effective work" during leave.
Final Straw: Sunday Work Request
The situation escalated when she received messages early Sunday morning requesting her presence at the office. Feeling overwhelmed and prioritizing her mental health, she decided to resign, with her last working day set for August 20.
She emphasized that although her colleagues were generally good people, the cumulative pressure had become unbearable, especially given her academic commitments alongside the internship.
