Ed Sivets Junior, an American who attended primary school in Kenya until 2014, recently returned to his old school for the first time in 12 years. His visit culminated in a touching reunion with his former maths teacher, who still teaches at the institution.
The meeting took place on the school lawn and was captured in a selfie-style video shared on TikTok by @edsivetsjr. The clip included nostalgic throwbacks of Ed as a student in uniform alongside scenes of current pupils in the classroom.
Memories of a Bright Student
During their encounter, Ed asked his teacher if he had been a good student. She warmly affirmed that he was among the best in maths, expressing surprise and joy at seeing him again after so many years. "Ed, you were a very good student. In fact, in maths, you are so nice," she remarked.
Ed admitted with a laugh that his maths skills declined after Grade 5, but credited his time in Kenya for sharpening his English language abilities.
A Lasting Bond
Reflecting on the reunion, Ed shared, "It's just crazy how everything comes back at a certain point. It's been 12 years, and now we're here." His former teacher wished him well in his future endeavours, highlighting the enduring connection between teacher and pupil despite the passage of time and distance.
The video resonated widely for its sincerity and the powerful reminder of how formative educational experiences remain with us.
