Aunty Jemimah Set to Host iToka Chapter 2, Celebrating African Arts in Limuru
iToka Chapter 2 returns to Eva's Garden, Limuru, on August 29 with music, art, fashion, and a creative marketplace celebrating African heritage and innovation.
On August 29, Eva's Garden in Redhill, Limuru, will come alive with iToka Chapter 2, a vibrant festival celebrating African creativity through music, visual arts, fashion, and entrepreneurship.
The event takes its name from the Gikuyu word iToka, traditionally referring to boundary plants. Organisers have reimagined this to represent a space for cultural connection, belonging, and discovery rather than division.
A Platform for African Artistry
Chira Njoroge, founder of Tuwashow Media, explained the festival’s vision: "iToka was created to celebrate African creativity while providing a platform where artists, entrepreneurs, and cultural practitioners can connect with audiences and new opportunities. Chapter 2 is about taking that vision further by creating meaningful experiences that celebrate our heritage while embracing the future of African creativity."
Lineup and Hosting
- Musical performances will feature artists including Addeh Prince, Nyawira Siren, iNala, Folk Fusion, Flow Flaani, Leting, and CEDO.
- The event will be hosted by Aunty Jemimah and Kibunja, guiding audiences through the day’s programme.
- Between sets, DJ Maina Rada Safi and DJ J.Y. will keep the energy flowing.
One performer described iToka Chapter 2 as a crucial platform where African music and stories can be shared freely and authentically, promising a raw and rooted experience for attendees.
Beyond Music: Arts and Marketplace
In addition to live performances, the festival will showcase curated visual art installations and a fashion showcase. A creative marketplace will also offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to display and sell their work, fostering connections between artists and the community.
iToka Chapter 2 aims to be more than a festival; it is a celebration of African heritage and a space for cultural exchange and innovation.
