An autopsy has confirmed that Kennedy Ng'eno, the man stabbed during a violent road rage incident in Nairobi, died from multiple stab wounds.
The attack unfolded shortly after a minor traffic accident near Nyayo Stadium on Mombasa Road in the early hours of Saturday morning. Newly released CCTV footage captures the confrontation between Ng'eno, his friend, and the prime suspect, a taxi driver who has since been arrested.
Sequence of Events Captured on CCTV
- The footage shows three vehicles stopping abruptly at around 4:36 a.m.
- A man exits his car and approaches a white vehicle, sparking a heated argument.
- The dispute quickly escalates into a physical altercation.
- The suspect is seen taking photos before a struggle ensues, during which a sharp object is used to stab one man.
- The attacker then pursues Ng'eno, repeatedly stabbing him until he collapses.
- Ng'eno's friends rush him to hospital nearly nine minutes later, but he is pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigation and Arrest
The prime suspect was apprehended four days after the incident and is currently held at Industrial Area Police Station. Authorities confirmed the suspect will face court proceedings for further investigation.
Makadara DCIO Hassan Ahmed Abdullahi stated, "The suspect has been arrested and will be taken to court tomorrow for custodial orders to complete investigations." Makadara OCPD Judith Nyongesa added, "As promised, the suspect has been found and is in custody."
Family and Legal Perspectives
According to family representative Malone Victor, the autopsy report showed that Ng'eno suffered approximately five stab wounds, including a fatal one that penetrated his heart. Family lawyer Gideon Kipyegon emphasized the presence of multiple witnesses who saw the stabbing and expressed hope that the murder weapon will be recovered during court proceedings.
