The Azimio la Umoja coalition council has authorized Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to initiate political talks with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the emerging Linda Mwananchi faction led by Edwin Sifuna. This strategic move aims to consolidate forces to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 general elections.

The coalition council convened on Monday in Nairobi, where it also welcomed new members from various political backgrounds. Among those admitted were Fred Matiang’i of Jubilee, Peter Munya from PNU, and Lenny Kivuti representing the Democratic Emergency Party (DEP).

Strategic Coalition Building

By engaging key political figures across party lines, Azimio seeks to strengthen its position ahead of the next presidential race. Kalonzo's role as the lead negotiator underscores the coalition's commitment to forming a united front against the incumbent administration.

This development signals a potential realignment in Kenya’s political landscape, with opposition groups consolidating to increase their influence and electoral competitiveness.
