Authorities in Kisii County have launched a probe following the discovery of a young man's body submerged in Nyakumisaro River near the Canaan area on Saturday morning.

The deceased, identified through a national identity card found on a jacket nearby as 24-year-old Roy Ondimu Jared from Kisii County, was found naked in the river. Clothing, a small bag with extra clothes, and a plastic bottle containing a whitish substance were also recovered at the scene.

Preliminary findings suggest the victim might have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped in the river. The motive behind the suspected murder remains unclear.

Crime Scene Support Services officers documented the site before the body was transported to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination and formal identification by relatives.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and are searching for those responsible. As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made.
