Bolt has introduced a global integration with ChatGPT, enabling customers to initiate ride-hailing requests through the AI platform before finalizing bookings in the Bolt app. This rollout spans all Bolt markets simultaneously, making it the first ride-hailing service accessible via ChatGPT in regions including the European Union, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan.
The integration provides ChatGPT's estimated 900 million weekly users with direct access to Bolt’s services. Users can inquire about trips, receive fare estimates upfront, compare route options, and see driver arrival times without leaving the AI interface. Additionally, ChatGPT suggests optimal pickup points to minimize waiting periods.
Once users choose to proceed, trip details transfer seamlessly to the Bolt app where the booking is completed. Currently, payments are processed within the Bolt app, although Bolt plans to enable payments directly through ChatGPT later this year.
Adapting to AI-Driven Consumer Behavior
According to Bolt, the move reflects evolving consumer habits, with AI increasingly used for everyday planning including travel. Citing Accenture's 2025 Consumer Pulse Research, the company notes that 80% of global travelers use AI for travel-related tasks, and over half are open to AI managing their travel arrangements.
Bolt’s Senior Vice President Paddy Partridge emphasized that travel planning is shifting to AI-powered conversations, simplifying the process. "People don't plan their evening in five different apps anymore. Much of that planning happens in one conversation with AI," he said. Partridge added that requesting a ride should be as straightforward as asking an AI assistant, highlighting the convenience of the new integration.
The feature is accessible via the ChatGPT app store and represents Bolt’s commitment to leveraging AI to simplify ride bookings. While initial payments remain in the Bolt app, the company aims to enable full in-chat payment capabilities in the near future.
