A 37-year-old Burundian national was arrested following a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raid in Likoni, Mombasa County, where 74 mobile phones believed to be stolen were recovered.
Detectives from Likoni Police Station conducted the operation in the Ferry area based on credible intelligence linking a local phone shop to the handling of stolen devices. The recovered phones are suspected to have been taken from various victims in separate incidents.
The suspect is currently in custody and is being processed for arraignment. Investigations are ongoing to identify the rightful owners of the phones and to determine if the suspect is connected to a larger criminal network involved in phone theft and trafficking.

Earlier the same day, Shauri Moyo Police arrested two suspects linked to a phone-snatching ring during routine patrols along Digo Road in Nairobi. Five suspected stolen phones were recovered, with three victims having positively identified their devices.
Authorities believe the suspects were involved in multiple incidents around Gikomba and Digo Road. Investigations continue to trace the owners of the remaining phones and explore connections to other theft cases.
