Cape Town International Airport operations were disrupted on Tuesday afternoon following a tyre burst incident involving Kenya Airways flight KQ784. The flight, arriving from Nairobi, landed safely at about 3:25 pm but suffered a tyre failure upon touchdown.
As a result, the airport has temporarily suspended arrivals, diverting incoming flights to alternative airports such as Johannesburg. Domestic departures continue to operate, but wide-body aircraft departures remain on hold until the runway is fully operational.
Kenya Airways confirmed the incident and assured that all passengers and crew disembarked safely and were taken to the terminal. The airline has cancelled the return flight KQ785 as technical teams work to repair the aircraft.
