Pedro Leitao Brito, popularly known as Bubista, has been appointed as the new head coach of Moroccan football club RS Berkane. The announcement was made on Tuesday, marking a significant step in the career of the 56-year-old coach.
Bubista gained international attention after guiding Cape Verde, a small island nation, to the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Under his leadership, Cape Verde advanced to the round of 32, where they were narrowly eliminated by Argentina in extra time.
During the tournament, Cape Verde held their own against football powerhouses Spain and Uruguay in the group stage, showcasing the team's growing competitiveness on the world stage.
RS Berkane highlighted Bubista's success with the Cape Verde national team as a key factor behind their decision to bring him on board. The club, which finished second in Morocco's top league last season and reached the CAF Champions League semi-finals, is looking to build on recent achievements.
Bubista replaces Mouine Chaabani, who recently left to coach the Tunisia national team. The Cape Verde Football Federation has not yet confirmed whether Bubista will continue his role with the national team alongside his new club responsibilities.
