Chuka University Student Faces Charges Over Offensive Remarks Against President Ruto and Family

A student from Chuka University has been arraigned in court over alleged offensive statements directed at President William Ruto and members of his family.

Hesbon Mauti Thomas is accused of posting a video on TikTok on June 25, 2026, in which he allegedly made derogatory remarks about the President, his son George Ruto, and one of his daughters.

During the hearing at Milimani Law Courts on Friday morning, Thomas pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court subsequently released him on a cash bail of KSh 5,000.
