Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has strongly refuted former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s assertions that government informers within the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) brief him on President William Ruto’s confidential plans.
Speaking during a church service at ACK St. Stephen's Chepkoilel in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where President Ruto was also present, Murkomen described Gachagua’s claims as false and misleading. He emphasized that the details of the President’s upcoming Vision 2060 address were already publicly available, noting that Ruto had announced the speech on his official Facebook page days earlier.
Murkomen stated: "I recently heard someone claim that the President would launch Vision 2060 and that this information came from NIS and DCI, but this is entirely untrue."
The Interior CS further accused Gachagua of politicizing national security issues for personal gain, warning that intelligence and security agencies must maintain professionalism and impartiality. He also criticized Gachagua’s repeated disparagement of security institutions, labeling him as one of the most irresponsible leaders to have held high office in Kenya.
These remarks follow Gachagua’s recent interview where he alleged that insiders at State House and security agencies had leaked confidential information about President Ruto’s plans, including the Vision 2060 framework.
