The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has detained a director of Celestial Trade (K) Limited in connection with a land fraud case involving a large parcel in Kahawa West, Kiambu County.
On July 27, detectives from the DCI's Land Fraud Investigations Unit apprehended Denis Okioyi Moseti at Ankara Hotel in Nairobi's Central Business District. He faces allegations related to a deceitfully acquired deed plan that claimed part of a 40.46-hectare government-allotted land.
Details of the Fraud Allegation
Complainants assert ownership of the 40.46-hectare parcel, acquired directly from the government. However, Celestial Trade (K) Limited submitted a deed plan for approximately 6.79 hectares of the same land, which was found to be fraudulently obtained following DCI investigations.
After thorough inquiries, the Land Fraud Investigations Unit forwarded the case to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). The ODPP has instructed that the company’s directors be charged with conspiracy to defraud, forgery, and obtaining land registration through false pretenses.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
- Denis Okioyi Moseti is currently in custody pending arraignment.
- The status of the other two directors is under review, with reports indicating they may be deceased.
- The DCI continues to assess the case and will make further recommendations to the court through the ODPP.
