The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended a man impersonating a police officer in Kilimani early Monday morning.
The suspect, identified as Philemon Kiplangat Chepkwony, was found inside a vehicle at L'Arc Casino within Yaya Centre. Authorities discovered a CZ 75 SP-01 pistol, a fake police appointment certificate, forged firearm documents, handcuffs, and an empty 9mm magazine in the car.
Further investigation led detectives to Chepkwony's rented home in Waluku Village, Dagoretti North, where they recovered 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition stored in two boxes.
Chepkwony is currently in custody awaiting arraignment. The DCI is probing how he obtained the firearm and ammunition and the extent of his impersonation activities. All seized items, including the vehicle, have been secured as evidence.
