Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia was taken into custody by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on the morning of August 3, 2026. The arrest followed an overnight standoff at the Royal Media Services (RMS) offices, where the MP had sought refuge due to concerns over his security.
Earlier, Kaguchia had posted on social media that he was being followed by unidentified individuals in unmarked Subaru vehicles after participating in an interview on Inooro TV's Kiririmbi show. Citing fears for his safety, he remained inside the RMS premises throughout Sunday night.
The DCI moved to arrest him shortly after he disclosed the alleged pursuit. Details surrounding the reasons for his arrest have not yet been made public.
