The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended a suspect involved in a series of vehicle break-ins across Nairobi, following an incident at Sameer Business Park on 3 August 2026.
A motorist found her car had been broken into, with a laptop, tablet, and charger stolen. Security personnel noticed a suspicious Toyota Land Cruiser nearby, registration KDT 122Q, with two occupants acting nervously.
When guards attempted to search the vehicle, the driver accelerated in an effort to escape, while the passenger fled on foot. The vehicle was intercepted at the park's exit gate, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Malcolm Okello.
Searches of the vehicle uncovered the stolen laptop and charger, a counterfeit registration plate (KDG 453W), wireless door jammers, and a metallic door-breaking tool. These items suggest involvement in a well-organized car break-in syndicate.
Investigation and Next Steps
