The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken charge of the case involving the disappearance of Jimmy Mwanzia Mutava, a businessman from Mlolongo, following his reported abduction on July 27, 2026.
According to a statement released by the DCI on August 2, detectives from the Anti-Abduction Unit are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Mutava's disappearance. Authorities confirmed that a report was filed at Mlolongo Police Station on the day he went missing, and several persons of interest are being pursued.
Details of the Incident
CCTV footage reviewed by Mutava's family shows four armed men forcibly placing him into a double-cabin pickup shortly after he met with a senior police officer in Mlolongo. The footage depicts one man carrying a rifle and another holding a handgun. The vehicle was also captured moving through various locations in Mlolongo prior to the abduction.
Further analysis of phone data indicates Mutava's mobile device last transmitted a signal near Kamiti Road around 11pm, approximately three hours after the abduction was recorded on camera.
Family Concerns and Public Appeal
Mutava's relatives have expressed concern after no police station has confirmed holding him or provided information on his whereabouts. They suspect the disappearance may be linked to a land dispute complaint Mutava filed on June 10, 2026, alleging that community members were being targeted by unidentified individuals, some reportedly accompanied by police officers.
