Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi has expressed contentment following the club's successful preseason tour in New Zealand and Australia. The team returned to London unbeaten after securing wins against Auckland FC and Chelsea, alongside a penalty shootout victory over Sydney FC.

De Zerbi praised the squad’s efforts during the 10-day tour, emphasizing the importance of the time spent together and the positive work done ahead of the new Premier League season. Tottenham aims to improve on their 17th-place finish last season as they prepare for their campaign opener against Brentford on August 22.

Key Players and Emerging Talents

The Italian coach highlighted contributions from key players such as Sandro Tonali, Andy Robertson, Marco Palestra, and youngsters including Archie Gray, Ben Davies, and Lucas Bergvall. He also noted the impact of promising prospects Malachi Hardy, Rio Kyerematen, Tye Hall, and Kota Takai during the preseason matches.

De Zerbi is eager to integrate players currently in London like Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr, Marcos Senesi, and Mohammed Kudus, who are recovering from injury or recently competed at the World Cup.

Resilience and Future Focus

Despite playing most of the second half with 10 men after Kevin Danso’s early red card in the Chelsea game, Tottenham maintained composure to secure a 2-1 victory, capped by a 90th-minute winner from Richarlison.

De Zerbi stressed the need to change past habits that led to poor results in previous seasons. He emphasized winning duels, second balls, and consistent performance across all positions as critical goals moving forward.

Before the Premier League kickoff, Tottenham will host back-to-back friendlies against German side TSG Hoffenheim, providing further opportunities to fine-tune the squad.
