Deputy President Kithure Kindiki arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on August 5, 2026, to represent President William Ruto at the Infra for Africa Forum and the AFRICA50 General Shareholders Meeting (GSM).
The forums bring together African leaders, policymakers, investors, and development partners to discuss infrastructure financing and investment opportunities aimed at accelerating economic growth and regional integration across the continent.
Focus on Infrastructure Development
The Infra for Africa Forum centers on boosting infrastructure projects as a foundation for Africa’s economic progress, while the AFRICA50 GSM reviews ongoing efforts to finance transformative infrastructure initiatives and seeks new partnerships to bridge the continent’s infrastructure gap.
Recent Engagements in Regional Security
Prior to his visit to Tanzania, Kindiki represented President Ruto at the 2nd Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) held in Entebbe, Uganda.
At the summit, African heads of state and senior officials discussed the future mandate, operational progress, and funding challenges of AUSSOM, which succeeded the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). The meeting emphasized enhancing cooperation among troop-contributing countries, the Somali Federal Government, the African Union, and international partners to combat the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
Kenya remains a key contributor to regional peacekeeping and counter-terrorism efforts in the Horn of Africa, with over a decade of involvement.
The outcomes of the Entebbe summit are expected to guide AUSSOM’s future operations, strengthen regional security collaboration, and support Somalia’s transition to full responsibility for its national security, promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
