Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called for sustained unity among political parties supporting President William Ruto under the broad-based government, stressing that cohesion is essential to advancing the administration's development goals ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Addressing supporters in Maralal, Samburu County, on August 1, 2026, Kindiki welcomed new members into the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and reaffirmed the importance of coalition solidarity.
Unity and Healthy Competition
Kindiki emphasized that while coalition partners should remain unified behind President Ruto, there is space for healthy political competition for other elective positions. He stated, "As long as we remain united behind the President, we can have peaceful competition for other elective positions."
Focus on Inclusive Development
The Deputy President highlighted that the broad-based government brings together leaders from diverse parties to promote national unity and implement the Kenya Kwanza development agenda.
He assured Samburu residents that the government’s transformation agenda aims for equitable development, especially in historically marginalized regions. Kindiki pointed out ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and services across the country, including:
- Road construction
- Expansion of electricity connectivity
- Development of markets
- Enhancement of schools and health facilities
- Support for enterprise growth
Kindiki welcomed new UDA members, stating, "Karibuni sana kwa chama cha UDA wenzangu. Sisi wana UDA tunaamini kuwa taifa letu ni moja na lazima tuhakikishe tuko pamoja bila kuleta ukabila."
Broad-Based Government Collaboration
The Deputy President acknowledged collaboration with other political parties, including the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), under the broad-based government framework. He urged all allies to maintain unity to strengthen the coalition’s ability to deliver on its promises nationwide.
