The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested a college director in Eldoret on allegations of issuing counterfeit academic certificates.
Investigations began after the Public Service Commission flagged concerns during routine verification of academic credentials. The suspect's institution was found to have falsely claimed affiliation with Moi University, leading a student to enroll in a Diploma in Business Management under false pretenses.
The student completed the course and received a diploma, which he later used to secure employment. However, during an official certificate authentication exercise, the diploma was declared fraudulent, resulting in the employee losing his job.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
- DCI investigations confirmed the director misrepresented the college's affiliation to induce enrolment.
- The case file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review.
- The director was apprehended in Eldoret Town and is currently undergoing processing ahead of court appearance.
