Nairobi-based Ena Coach has implemented updated travel regulations affecting passengers travelling with minors and boarding procedures. These changes took effect immediately and align with Kenyan traffic laws mandating that children aged five years and above must occupy their own seat in public service vehicles.
New Child Seating Requirements
The bus operator has clarified that children aged five and older must have a separately booked seat and cannot travel on a guardian's lap. This policy aims to enhance safety and comfort for all passengers.
Boarding and Drop-off Restrictions
In addition to seating rules, Ena Coach now limits boarding and alighting points exclusively to locations where the company operates physical offices. This adjustment is designed to improve operational efficiency and reinforce passenger safety throughout its network.
Fare Revisions
These operational changes follow a fare review conducted by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) that took effect on July 15. Key route fares have been adjusted with western Kenya to Nairobi tickets now priced between KSh 1,700 and KSh 1,800. Routes to Mombasa have been standardized at KSh 3,000.
Fuel costs, especially diesel, remain a significant expense for long-distance bus companies, prompting regular fare updates in response to fluctuating energy prices.
