ETHSafari, a Kenyan blockchain initiative aimed at amplifying Africa’s presence in the global Web3 space, is commemorating its fifth year with a dynamic event scheduled from September 4 to 13, 2026.
From Nairobi to Kilifi: A Unique Blockchain Experience
The event kicks off in Nairobi, Kenya’s technology hub, where developers and blockchain enthusiasts engage in a hackathon, workshops, and networking sessions. Participants compete to create innovative solutions, benefit from expert mentorship, and vie for prizes.
Following Nairobi, attendees embark on the BlockTrain journey, traveling through Tsavo National Park via the Standard Gauge Railway. This segment is designed to foster informal discussions and collaborations beyond traditional conference settings.
The event culminates in Kilifi on Kenya’s coast, hosting the main conference that brings together builders, investors, researchers, and blockchain communities from across Africa and beyond.
Global Support and Impact
Since its inception, ETHSafari has attracted backing from over 20 international organisations including Visa, Ethereum Foundation, Coinbase, Polkadot, and many others. The 2026 edition, themed "The Fifth Safari," retains its comprehensive format of hackathon, workshops, the BlockTrain journey, and the culminating conference.
Mission and Vision
ETHSafari was founded by African Web3 leaders determined to tell Africa’s blockchain story from an authentic perspective. The event’s ongoing mission is to connect African blockchain innovators with global counterparts, ensuring the continent’s contributions are recognised and shaped by those at the forefront of the industry.
