The family of businessman Jimmy Mwanzia Mutava is urgently seeking information following his unexplained disappearance in Mlolongo, Machakos County. Mutava was last seen on Monday evening after a meeting with a senior police officer from Mlolongo Police Station.
CCTV footage shows armed men forcibly placing Mutava into a vehicle shortly after his meeting at an entertainment spot known as Biju, a location with container joints. According to Mutava's uncle, David Muli, the family received a call from the officer inviting Mutava for the meeting.
Further video evidence captures Mutava speaking on the phone outside the venue shortly before being abducted. The audio reveals a sudden disturbance with voices shouting. At 8:22 pm, four men armed with firearms emerged from a pickup truck and forcibly took Mutava away.
The same vehicle was recorded moving around Mlolongo prior to the abduction. Despite the incident being reported at Mlolongo Police Station, authorities have not confirmed Mutava's detention or disclosed his location.
Mobile phone data indicates Mutava's phone last pinged near Kamiti Road around 11 pm, hours after the abduction footage. Mutava had previously filed a complaint on June 10 alleging attacks by unknown individuals, some accompanied by police, related to a land dispute in his community. His family suspects a connection between this complaint and his disappearance, though no official link has been established.
Mutava's wife, Margaret Mutuku, and their four children remain anxious, hoping for his safe return. She expressed the emotional toll on their children, who eagerly anticipate his arrival.
The National Police Service has yet to issue any official comments regarding the disappearance.
