A family is demanding justice after their relative, 30-year-old Kennedy Ngeno, was stabbed to death during a road rage incident near Nyayo National Stadium along Mombasa Road in Nairobi.
According to relatives, Ngeno was travelling from his rural home in Roret, Kericho County, to Nairobi on Friday. He first stopped at a cousin's residence in Uthiru where they socialised before heading to Pipeline with friends who were in a separate vehicle.
Leonard Cheruiyot, a cousin of the deceased, recounted that their vehicle was hit from behind by an online taxi driver, forcing them to stop. The driver reportedly remained aggressive and approached their car, striking the windscreen.
"We noticed his violent behaviour and attempted to drive away about 50 metres ahead. We informed Ken about the damage to our vehicle," Cheruiyot said.
The taxi driver, captured in a video arguing with Ngeno, allegedly retrieved a knife from his car and stabbed Ngeno. Another occupant also sustained injuries during the attack.
The injured were rushed to Mbagathi Hospital and later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where Ngeno was pronounced dead.
His wife, Dorcas Ngeno, described him as the family's main provider and appealed for swift justice.
Police Action
Makadara OCPD Judith Nyongesa confirmed that investigators have obtained the suspect’s details from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), a key step towards his arrest.
Authorities stated that the suspect fled the scene after fatally stabbing Ngeno.
