At least five people lost their lives and 10 others were injured after a Ukrainian drone strike hit a warehouse near Moscow on Tuesday night, according to the governor of the Moscow region.
The warehouse, located in Novoselki, Chekhov, roughly 69 kilometers south of central Moscow, caught fire following the attack. Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that seven of the injured are in moderate condition while one remains serious.
Although officials did not explicitly confirm the target, Ukrainian strikes have focused on facilities operated by Wildberries, a major Russian e-commerce company often compared to Amazon. Kyiv claims these depots supply the Russian military, a charge Moscow denies. Wildberries confirmed damage to its St Petersburg warehouse but has not commented on the Moscow region site.
Additional strikes on Wildberries warehouses were reported in the St Petersburg and Tver regions overnight.
Continued Strikes on Both Sides
In retaliation, Russia launched attacks on Ukrainian territory, resulting in at least four deaths and multiple injuries.
- An 89-year-old woman was killed in a strike on Mykolaiv, with two young girls among the injured.
- In Sumy, a separate attack on a residential area killed a woman and two girls aged five and ten, injuring four others.
- Additional injuries were reported in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and a food warehouse was set ablaze in Dnipro.
Russia’s defense ministry claimed to have intercepted and destroyed 320 drones overnight amid the ongoing hostilities.
