Five people lost their lives and one sustained serious injuries following a collision involving two trucks on the Marsabit–Isiolo Road early Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 4 a.m. at Kargi Junction, approximately 10 kilometres from Marsabit Town. Both trucks were transporting beans and heading towards Isiolo when one vehicle rammed into the rear of the other.
Marsabit County Police Commander Leonard Kimaiyo confirmed that four victims died instantly at the scene, while the fifth succumbed to injuries after being rushed to Marsabit County Referral and Teaching Hospital. The injured individual remains in serious condition.
Authorities, led by the Marsabit Central Sub-County Police Commander, promptly secured the crash site and initiated investigations to determine the cause of the collision. The deceased were transferred to the hospital mortuary.
Commander Kimaiyo urged all motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and exercise heightened caution on the roads to prevent such tragedies.
