Five security officers lost their lives after their vehicle detonated a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Arabia, Mandera County.
The victims include four members of the elite Special Operations Group (SOG) and one National Police Reservist. Local officials said the officers were conducting a routine patrol along a key supply route when the explosion occurred, destroying their vehicle instantly and killing all occupants on site.
Security forces have since been deployed to the area to track the attackers, who are believed to have retreated toward the nearby border. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
