The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that detectives, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a gang traveling in a Toyota Harrier along the Koma-Kenol Highway in the Mashokani area.
When officers signaled the vehicle to stop, the suspects responded by firing at the detectives, prompting a gun battle. The detectives returned fire, killing one suspect armed with an AK-47 rifle.
Another suspect, armed with a pistol, managed to flee the scene and is currently being pursued by law enforcement.
Recovered Weapons and Evidence

- Investigations revealed this rifle was stolen during a robbery in Mavoko in November 2025 from a police officer guarding a residence in Athi River.
- Additional items recovered from the vehicle included eight mobile phones, four balaclavas, crowbars, and torches.
Crime Scene Investigation teams processed the scene, and the suspect's body was moved to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
