A tragic accident occurred in Lindi Municipality, southeastern Tanzania, when a speeding car crashed into a house, killing five-year-old Alvon Bagule as he slept.
The incident happened on the morning of July 31 at around 6 am on Lips Street, Matopeni Ward. The vehicle, driven by 31-year-old Maximilian Lesio, lost control at a bend and veered off the road, striking the house.
Lindi Regional Police Commander John Imori explained that the crash was caused by reckless speeding and failure to control the vehicle while negotiating the bend. The driver sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Sokoine Hospital, where the child's body has also been preserved.
An eyewitness, Fatuma Ally, described hearing a loud crash and finding the house partially collapsed with the boy's mother in distress.
