Denis Mugo, popularly known as OJ from the iconic Kenyan TV series Tahidi High, has publicly addressed recent media coverage following a video of him at a Nairobi nightclub that went viral.
The clip, filmed on July 2, showed OJ enjoying time with friends at an undisclosed city club. However, several media outlets interpreted the footage as a sign of personal struggles since his departure from the limelight.
Rejecting these narratives, OJ issued a statement condemning what he described as unethical and ill-intentioned reporting. He emphasized that the video simply captured him having fun and dismissed claims suggesting otherwise.
In his response, OJ remarked:
"I thank all the media houses still spreading footage of my good times. I have always had fun wherever I am with my friends. The continued support of rumormongering and ill-motivated spreading by some so-called media stations is not only welcome but tushazoea.
As you proceed with your great ambitions to be journalists, may you be guided by professionalism and may your hate speech be respected by those who give a hoot. I will continue being me."
Since leaving Tahidi High, where he gained widespread recognition, OJ has ventured into karaoke hosting and worked within Embu county government.
