Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sharply criticized the Kenya Kwanza government, accusing it of fostering "black supremacy" through corruption, police violence, and economic decline.
Addressing supporters in Mutonyora, Kinangop Constituency, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Gachagua drew parallels between the area's historical role in Kenya's independence struggle and the current political climate. He urged Kenyans to resist leaders he described as exploitative.
Rejecting New Forms of Oppression
Gachagua invoked the legacy of anti-colonial resistance, stating:
- "Mutonyora, Kinangop Constituency, reminds us of our freedom struggle and what our forefathers stood for over 60 years ago."
- "They said no to white supremacy; we shall never let them down. Just like them, we say no to black supremacy, to those who, in their deception, are looting our motherland dry, those who are killing our children, those who are ordering our children to be shot in the legs, and those who are ruining our economy."
Although Gachagua did not explicitly name President William Ruto, his remarks appeared to target the current administration amid escalating political tensions between the two former allies.
Call for National Liberation
The former deputy president accused the government of widespread embezzlement and pledged to mobilize a national movement to reclaim the country from corrupt officials. He said:
- "We shall not let our Country down; we shall join the people of Mutonyora and the 55 million Kenyans to liberate our motherland from kleptomaniacs."
2027 Election as a Turning Point
Framing the upcoming General Election as a pivotal moment, Gachagua appealed to voters in Kinangop and across Kenya to prepare for political change. He concluded:
- "Dear Mutonyora, we have a date with destiny on 10th August 2027 to save Kinangop and to save Kenya."
