Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua received a gift of goats from a delegation representing the Maa community from Narok during a visit to his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County.
The delegation, led by Narok Town MCA Douglas Masikonde, visited Gachagua as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections. Members of the group arrived adorned in traditional Maasai attire, including distinctive red clothing, beadwork, and carrying rungus, the community's traditional walking sticks.
Masikonde explained that the visit was an opportunity to express gratitude to Gachagua for his support during his political journey. The MCA recalled how Gachagua backed him during challenging moments, including defending him amid political pressure.
In response, Gachagua acknowledged the gift and expressed appreciation for the community's continued support. He emphasized that the discussions included views on the country’s liberation and the formation of Kenya’s sixth administration.
"My cousins from Narok, the Maa community, you gave our party DCP its first-born son, Hon. Douglas Masikonde," Gachagua said, referencing Masikonde’s victory in a by-election last November.
The delegation included aspirants for various elective positions across Narok West, Narok South, and Kilgoris, reflecting a broader political engagement by Gachagua beyond his Mt Kenya base.
Earlier in the week, Gachagua also met with members of the Somali community at his home, reaffirming his commitment to maintaining strong relations across diverse Kenyan communities.
