Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has disclosed that he received advance information about President William Ruto’s Special National Address from sources within State House.
In an interview with political analyst Herman Manyora on July 31, Gachagua explained that the tip-off helped him anticipate the speech’s focus, particularly the unveiling of a long-term national development agenda.
He noted that the initial plan was to introduce a "Vision 2060," which was later revised to a post-2030 development vision.
"The information came directly from inside State House," Gachagua said, addressing widespread speculation about a leak within the presidency. He emphasized his careful approach to verifying such intelligence to maintain his credibility.
"I receive information from civil servants, police, the National Intelligence Service, and parastatal employees. I ensure the details are credible before sharing to protect my reputation," he added.
Gachagua also used the platform to raise concerns about welfare issues among officers in the Presidential Escort Unit, noting that some had not received their allowances and urging attention to their needs.
This revelation confirms circulating social media rumors about a possible mole in the presidency and sheds light on how confidential details of the address became public prior to delivery.
