Homa Bay Governor and ODM chairperson Gladys Wanga has strongly criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his recent statements concerning the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Speaking at a political rally in Suba on August 12, Wanga described Gachagua's remarks as hypocritical, insensitive, and inappropriate.
Wanga urged Gachagua to refrain from invoking Raila Odinga's name in his political discourse, emphasizing that the ODM party will not entertain any association with him due to their stark ideological differences.
Wanga’s Message to Gachagua
- "Gachagua, leave Raila Odinga alone. Do your politics without mentioning Raila Odinga's name. Let him rest in peace," Wanga said, referencing past tensions.
- She accused Gachagua of being a "master of tribal division," contrasting sharply with Raila Odinga’s legacy.
- Wanga highlighted the ideological gulf between the two, stating, "You and Baba are like day and night in terms of ideology."
Warning to ODM Members
Wanga also cautioned ODM members against aligning themselves with Gachagua, warning that those who do so stray from the party’s core principles.
- "Any ODM member claiming to be a Baba person yet associating with Gachagua is lost in an ideology of callousness," she added.
The comments come amid shifting political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures navigate evolving party dynamics.
