The Kenyan government has initiated payments totaling KSh 6,000 to thousands of households supporting orphans and vulnerable children, covering three months of cash transfers under the Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) programme.

Announced by Cabinet Secretary Hanna Wendot Cheptumo of the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, the disbursement covers April, May, and June 2026. Each beneficiary household receives KSh 2,000 per month, paid in a single installment starting July 31, 2026, through designated government payment service providers.

In a statement on August 4, 2026, via her official X account, CS Wendot reaffirmed the government's dedication to bolstering social protection for vulnerable groups. She described the CT-OVC programme as a vital element of Kenya's social safety net, aimed at improving child welfare by supporting education, nutrition, healthcare, and household needs.

Preparations for the July 2026 payment cycle are reportedly well underway, ensuring continued support for beneficiary families.
