The government has allocated Ksh2.43 billion for the June 2026 cycle of the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, benefiting more than 1.2 million elderly citizens and persons living with severe disabilities nationwide.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection confirmed that the funds were disbursed through the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, with payments starting on August 3, 2026.
Each enrolled beneficiary will receive Ksh2,000 as part of this payment cycle. The programme supports 1,213,156 individuals, aiming to help vulnerable households cover essential needs such as food, healthcare, and other basic expenses.
Key Government Social Support Initiative
Principal Secretary Joseph Motari emphasized the importance of Inua Jamii as a major government effort to alleviate poverty and improve the welfare of vulnerable groups.
“The programme is a critical pillar in supporting elderly citizens and persons living with severe disabilities who require continued social and financial assistance,” Motari stated.
The Inua Jamii programme targets Kenyans aged 70 years and above, as well as individuals with severe disabilities. Regular cash transfers under the programme help ease the financial pressures faced by these groups and their caregivers.
The Ministry highlighted that Inua Jamii promotes dignity, social inclusion, and overall well-being for vulnerable populations through sustained social protection.
