The government has started disbursing Ksh6,000 to beneficiaries enrolled in the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) cash transfer programme. The amount covers payments for April, May, and June 2026, with Ksh2,000 allocated per month.
This follows the completion of a nationwide biometric verification exercise conducted over two months under the broader Inua Jamii social protection initiative. The process, led by the Ministry of Labour, involved fingerprint and facial recognition to confirm beneficiary eligibility.
During the exercise, new vulnerable households and minority community members were also registered to expand the programme's reach.
The Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Children Services confirmed that payments commenced on July 31, 2026. Beneficiaries can now withdraw funds through their designated payment service providers. The ministry advises recipients to verify receipt of official payment notifications before visiting payment agents.
Those encountering difficulties with payments are encouraged to seek support at Sub-County, County, or Regional Children's Offices or contact the toll-free helpline at 1533.
Preparations for the July 2026 payment cycle are underway, and beneficiaries will be notified when disbursements begin. The government remains committed to providing timely assistance to vulnerable households, enhancing resilience, and promoting access to education, healthcare, and nutrition.
